I hope to buy a balloon.....

The other day I was sitting in the open area in front of Pyramids, S.B. Road. It's a nice place to be in the evening with the brightly lit Pyramids Megastore in the front and the fountains besides spraying water on your face as the breeze carries them to you. It's a nice place to be after a hectic n frustrating day at work. Everything seemed perfect when I saw this little girl, "Gudiya", that's what I would like to call her. She was a very pretty girl of age 11 or 12 with a bunch of balloons in her hands. She was walking over to each person sitting around and asking if they would like to purchase a balloon from her. Everyone she went to, said no to purchase a balloon. As I was expecting, she came to me too; the moment she stood in front of me, my face lit up with a warm smile. Noticing this she thrust a balloon in my hand. She was smiling at me too when I purchased that balloon from her. As she happily hopped away to other people I looked at her and wondered how m...

Courage could be....

As I have always struggled to understand what "Courage" exactly meant, I have heard different definitions of this quality. One said it means being fearless while one more said being confident of what you do. I had an opprtunity recently to see Courage personified as I was taking a leisure trip to Wai - Mahabaleshwar during the Diwali vacation. Wai a very small village surrounded by the sahyadri mountains is a perfect place to find peace and tranquility. As I passed her this sight did not make any impact on me and I glanced away looking at the dam approach. But that scene kept flashing at the back of my mind. As I pondered on it realization dawned upon me and i understood the importance of what I had seen. The old lady inspite of being challenged by her age and her day by day reducing s...

Memories Remain.....

I noticed something the other day as I was standing in the balcony at my work place. It was the most precious and a fun and frolic time from the perspective of the kids of a small time school; The " LUNCH BREAK ". Memories came gushing back as a I recalled my school days. The lunch break that we had was a blessing in disguise, a most awaited time of the entire day. It was more of a "Fun Break" rather than a "Lunch Break" for me and all other kids. Our mission for the everyday lunch break would be to make the most of it. Given the 30 minutes of the lunch break we would try to finish the lunch within 10 minutes so that we could get rest of the time to play. It is a moment to remember as all my friends and me used to sit down and lay out in front of us a plethora of food varieties. Once food was done everyone was ready for their favorite game "Cricket". However this one did not involve a bat and a ball, rather something better :-) a writing pad and ...
