Memories Remain.....
I noticed something the other day as I was standing in the balcony at my work place. It was the most precious and a fun and frolic time from the perspective of the kids of a small time school; The "LUNCH BREAK". Memories came gushing back as a I recalled my school days. The lunch break that we had was a blessing in disguise, a most awaited time of the entire day. It was more of a "Fun Break" rather than a "Lunch Break" for me and all other kids.
Our mission for the everyday lunch break would be to make the most of it. Given the 30 minutes of the lunch break we would try to finish the lunch within 10 minutes so that we could get rest of the time to play. It is a moment to remember as all my friends and me used to sit down and lay out in front of us a plethora of food varieties. Once food was done everyone was ready for their favorite game "Cricket". However this one did not involve a bat and a ball, rather something better :-) a writing pad and a hanky turned into a cotton ball. We uses to play this game with such a passion, fighting over cheating and lost wickets, sixes and fours. The playground would be decorated with many such kids playing the game of cricket. I bet noone of us must have missed playing this game. The satisfaction that we got once the lunch break was over cannot be described in words. As we dragged ourselves to classes, completely smeared in sweat with pants and shirts laden with layers of dust and wiping our forehead on the sleeves, we used to be already planning of the team that should be formed for tomorrows game.
I recalled this innocence of our childhood as I saw the kids from the school play a game called "Mama che patra harava". How innocently these kids played their heart out in that small break as if there was no tomorrow, some of them even keeping their tiffins away!!
As I stand today in the building of a well established IT company, grown up and earning thousands, from the inside I wish I was still a kid so that I could just run upto the school and join the kids. As I reflect upon this, a smile spreads across my face and I know that its a smile that will keep coming time and time again on my face as I will watch my kids play one day!!!Life is strange, at one point of time it gives you a thought "What would it be like to be a grown up". However, today when I am grown up I crave to be a kid again, conveniently overlooking the dark side of the world.
