The man who grew young
Think about this phenomena. Think about a world where this could happen. This is something that is stuck in my mind for quite some time now. This is a story about Adam, a story for all of us, a reminder for many of us and a message for some of us. Adam was born in South Park, Colorado so to say. However, he was born as an 60-65 year, old looking, hunch back guy. Everyone was in a dismay as they saw him, including his parents. But god had some unique plans for this baby. As years passed by people started noticing that this new born was living a unique phenomena. This baby was growing younger as he grew old. As years passed by this kid turned into a fine looking man and he started going to school. As years passed along he started playing with the kids in the nearby locality and he started attending the elementary school. Every year as he celebrated his birthday lil Adam would come to his mother and say "Hey mom, I am growing younger and I grew one year younger today, I am afraid of being born again!!" His mom would be speechless quite contradictory to what all of us fear, this young man was fearing to be born again. Adam grew younger day by day and finally there came a period when he had to be fed by his mother.
I know a lot of people (including me) who fear getting older and stepping out in this world. When I talk to my friends and ask them what was the best part of their life till date, the only answer I get is "childhood; school days". Today I would like to ask, would any one want to step into Adam's shoes? Many of us fear getting old and dying. Many of us fear getting old and getting weak and dependent. It's such a wonderful feeling to know that you are finally going to be united with your mother again, as in Adam's case. Everyone loves their mother and would always want to stay with them. Adam loved his mom too and on his last birthday he wrote his mom a letter. It goes like this.
Now you've been up and you've been down, you've stayed strong even though daddy wasn't around.
My momma, through the thick and the thin, beginning to end. It's unconditional how the sun shines, when I see a smile on ya face. I wasn't born wild you know you raised me right, But the roads of Alabama called me into the night. You're the light at the end of the tunnel and the break of the day
after the darkest night, chasing all the evil away. You're the angel on Earth the proof there's a God. As I love you each day, as I fade away into you.
I remember a teacher from my school days, she used to always say, love your parents. They are god for you, they are higher than god, always touch your mom dad's feet before you leave the house everyday. Touch your mom's feet first and then your daddy's feet. I remember this till date. As I write this post, one of my friends birthday clocks in. Happy Birthday friend. This one's for you!!
Adam's dead today and rests like a small baby in a cradle in one of the remote graves in Colorado. Adam's mom lives to tell tales about lil Adam or rather old Adam. You can see Adam smile in her eyes as her eyes glisten with tears. Tears of love, tears of happiness tears of a mother. Get busy livin', or get busy dyin'. That's god-damn right.
Cheers,
