In a country where black was treated as insignificant and amidst the racist turmoil, a star emerged and made its mark on the entire human race. Right from 8-10 year old kids to fathers and grandfathers and mothers and grandmothers, everyone got hooked onto what got called "The Moonwalk". An invention of its own kind executed in sheer elegance and silky smooth moves.
I left office today feeling awfully low and in remorse. The biggest of performers and a person whom I grew up watching and immitating like millions of others, is no more with us today. The legacy ends today, but he lives on through everyone of us. Even today in 2009, the sponsorers of his tour planned to sell a whooping 750, 000 tickets in a matter of 4 hours. This simply is mind boggling and also good to know people still love him and that pop is not dead!!
Hats of to a guy who did everything in his capacity, sing, dance and make music, (who can forget his millions of dollars in charity for kids) to entertain the earth. My dream of watching him live and do "that thing" in front of me reamains unfulfilled. However, the Thriller moves he made, the Bad n Dangerous songs he sang and the imaginary girl he created Bille Jean, will be a treasure to cherish. A person who changed the meaning of the phrase group dance, and created the concept of human robot and grasped his groin/pelvic region again and again, his white glove will always be remembered.
